As a scientist with college degree in Astronomy, minor in Physics and Mathematics, I was appalled to find folks telling outright falsities and presenting bad science to bolster suspicion of our known accepted reality - that the Earth is a beautiful blue globe.

This blog clearly shows scientific proofs that debunk everything that flat Earth proponents claim.  Here we also expose the comments those YouTube video channels delete, because they don't want you to see them.

The Earth is not flat.  That claim is a conspiracy theory perpetrated by ignorant people who have ulterior personal motives and agendas.

The Earth is a beautiful blue spheroid globe spinning on an axis 23.5° once each day, and orbiting the Sun every 365.25 days.

Alternative Cosmology - The ISS and the Flat Earth


Dear Alternative Cosmology,

Your claim:
This video was made for the sole purpose of showing those who believe the ISS is real that it's mere existence does not prove the Earth is a globe

Fact check = You FAIL
1. Pictures from the ISS show the Earth curved horizon, from altitude of 249 miles above sea level.

The Earth's curvature at 249 miles is 20.6 degrees, as determined by simple geometric calculations.

2. The ISS stays in orbit around the Earth, as explained by the law of gravity.

In your video you claim that gravity is only a theory, yet you site the existence of gravity as your explanation of the vortex, that is right above the North pole. See picture #1 below.

At time mark 3:44 you state...
“in this model I have the center of gravity focused on the vortex, right above the north pole."

At time mark 6:42 you write, “Gravity is merely a theory”

At time mark 8:12 you write, “Perhaps the ISS is real, and Low (Flat) Earth Orbit is possible above the Flat Earth with the North Pole Vortex as the barycenter of “gravity”

"So if you are on the Earth plane, you’re being drawn down to the Earth."

YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS.

3. The following picture (click on the link) shows the ISS in front of the Sun. That is only possible if the ISS is between the Earth's surface and the Sun.

Flat Earth proponents do not accept that.

4. The ISS can be visually observed with the naked eye. It rises in the west (west - south west - south) and sets in the east (north - north east - east) sky.

Rising and setting does not occur on a flat Earth. Celestial objects just circle overhead.

You are making up your own laws of nature (physics) and they have no resemblance to how our current real world operates.

The ISS NEVER goes over the North Pole, which you claim
With an orbital inclination of 51.65, the closest it ever comes to the North Pole is northern latitude (90 - 51.65) = 38.3 degrees.

Your circular Astro Plate does not cover South America, southern Africa, or Australia.

Therefore, from those locations there should be no stars directly above in the night sky.

But that is not the case.

The ISS solar panels do not bend. That picture (# 6 below) was taken from a "fish-eye" camera.

A fish-eye lens attached to an electronic still camera was used to capture this image of NASA astronaut Scott Kelly, Expedition 26 commander, in the Cupola of the International Space Station.

The true shape of the ISS solar panels can be seen in picture #7.

Music: Between the Rings by Stellardrone Filmed with an 8" Meade LX200 Classic with a 2x barlow (f/20) and Canon T5i. Tracked using SatTraker. The video frames were then stabilized and stacked in a 5 frame rolling average using a custom Python script which also added the time code, altitude, azimuth and range numbers to the video based on the orbital elements of the space station.

"Astrophotographer Thierry Legault is renowned for his amazing shots of spacecraft transiting the Sun. He’s now outdone even himself.

On June 24 and 25, 2020, Legault captured the International Space Station passing in front of the Sun with such clarity, even the station’s robotic arm, the Canadarm2, is clearly visible. The docked SpaceX Dragon capsule can also be seen. These latest masterpieces from Legault are the most detailed ISS images captured from Earth yet.

Legault credited some new equipment for the increased clarity.

“My new CFF apochromatic triplet 8″ refractor I bought 2 weeks before the shots seems to be optically very good,” he told Universe Today via email. “Focusing is critical and is always a challenge, especially nowadays because there are no sunspots. I had to focus on the solar limb, and fortunately, at the distance of the ISS, there’s no difference in focusing between the Sun and the ISS.”

Legault said the camera he uses, and Olympus E M-1 II, has the fastest continuous shooting: 60 frames per second in 20 Mpix Raw mode. But he has less than a second to capture the space station’s pass in front of the Sun....."
