As a scientist with college degree in Astronomy, minor in Physics and Mathematics, I was appalled to find folks telling outright falsities and presenting bad science to bolster suspicion of our known accepted reality - that the Earth is a beautiful blue globe.

This blog clearly shows scientific proofs that debunk everything that flat Earth proponents claim.  Here we also expose the comments those YouTube video channels delete, because they don't want you to see them.

The Earth is not flat.  That claim is a conspiracy theory perpetrated by ignorant people who have ulterior personal motives and agendas.

The Earth is a beautiful blue spheroid globe spinning on an axis 23.5° once each day, and orbiting the Sun every 365.25 days.

Taboo Conspiracy - Reflections on the Flat Earth Revolution - more bad science intended to mislead people


Dear Taboo Conspiracy,                       

Fact check = You FAIL
If your video is depicting how the Sun reflects off the Earth's curves surface, there are multiple errors with that.

1) If the Sun were truly seen in the sky as you depict here in your video, it would only be about 29% as bright as our true Sun.  That is by reason of 23% absorption by the atmosphere and 48% absorption by the Earth's surface.

What happens to sunlight after it strikes the Earth?  Only about 29% of it gets reflected back into space.

2) Your proposed secondary reflection of the Sun off the Earth's surface could only be seen if that light would fall focused on a secondary reflecting mirror in the sky, of which there is none.

3) Your demonstration as show in the snapshot above is misleading, because the scale of light source distance to Earth's size in VERY WRONG.

Because the Sun is so very far away...

Average distance to the Sun = 93-million miles away 
Diameter of the Earth = 7,917.5 miles 
So your flashlight source in the video, when scaled properly, should be (93-million / 7,917.5 ) = 11,746 Earth diameters away. 
At that proper scale only parallel light beams hit the Earth. That is nothing like what you showed.


4) We always see the Sun since it shines on us directly (a straight line from it to us), not as a reflection.

5) If we were able to see your reflected Sun, and we don't, it would appear in the sky as a SECOND Sun of much lesser brightness.  For your claim to be true, we should be seeing TWO Suns in the sky, not one.

6.  The angular distance between the true Sun and your reflected Sun in you model, depends upon where on the Earth you are standing.  The two suns get farther and farther apart as one travels toward the North or South Pole.

No one sees any of this = so your model is 100% WRONG.

7.  Fact:
The actual amount of the Sun's light energy reaching the Earth's surface is well known by Solar Panel makers.  Those known results actually provide convincing evidence that the Earth is a globe.  Read below...

8.  Fact check = You FAIL
The earth's atmosphere acts as a graded index lens (not a mirror as you contend) because the index of refraction varies from 1.000 at the beginning of space to about 1.00029 near the earth's surface.

It has been known that the Earth's atmosphere can act as a lens since the 1700s, by studying lunar eclipses.

The Earth atmosphere isn't a classical lens with a single focal point. Because air density decreases with altitude, the focus of an Earth atmospheric lens will not be a single point.

Conclusion = the Sun and Earth do not behave as you have depicted in this video.  All of your optics and Physics is wrong.

We suggest that you stop fantasizing and get a real education instead.
