john armstrong (aka flatearthjohnny) - flat earth the moon is close coolpix p900
Dear john armstrong,
Your following video statements are ALL WRONG.
They are an expression of your personal opinion, and not based on actual scientific fact.
And as for proof, you showed no rational proof to backup your claims..
Your statements…
* the moon is much closer.
* this amount of detail would not be possible at such great distance
* this can’t possibly be 238,900 miles away
* etc. etc. etc.
Your music - "Spirit in the Sky" is a song written and originally recorded by Norman Greenbaum and released in late 1969.
… reveals that your motivations for making flat Earth videos are based on your biblical Christian belief, and not on science or real fact. That is why you feel the need to discredit science.
Your video is a good example of unbridled ignorance.
Here is why looking at the Moon with a camera does not reveal how far away a celestial object really is...
Fact:
The distance to any celestial object cannot be determined by how it looks in the sky to an observer (unless you know its actual real size).
The Sun is about 1/2 degree in angular size when viewed in the sky.
As the following diagram shows, one cannot determine distance based on the angular size of an object in the sky... In each instance below, a tree appears to be the same size...
- A tree 1-meter high at a distance of 5.7 meters = object appears 10 degrees wide
- A tree 2-meters high at a distance of 11.4 meters = object appears 10 degrees wide
- A tree 3-meters high at a distance of 17.1 meters = object appears 10 degrees wide
