4. Nathan Oakley - makes up new law of optics ("a limitation in the viewing angle will cause things to obstruct bottom up") to explain why no one can see the bottom of boats and other objects gone over the horizon.
No mathematical, optics or scientific proof was offered by Nathan to backup such a claim.
He just made it up to support his "no curvature" lunacy.

5. Rather than acknowledging that distant objects disappear from the bottom-up due to blockage by Earth curvature (like the bottom of boats going over the horizon until totally gone), he claims that the “angle” of the observer causes that effect. But according to 10th grade Euclidian Geometry, that is just nonsense.
Disappearing From Bottom Up on Flat Plane - Debunked, because his experimental plane is not flat as claimed.
[The camera and book are both not on the same floor. The book is in another room where the flooring is lower.]
Therefore, this video is a premeditative hoax and sloppy lie.
Angle of attack and angular limitation are the new flat Earth buzzwords that Nathan is promoting to explain why the bottom of distant objects "disappear from view," rather than acknowledging that it's due to Earth curvature.

But here now we see the deception. The book is actually in a different room, and the floor there is not level with the floor the camera is on.

Here Nathan insists that the Rayleigh Criterion issue (at some distance two objects next to each other merge and appear as one) should have been incorporated in the standard curve calculator. Yet, Nathan does not know how big/small that value actually is for the human eye.
The reality is that the human eye Rayleigh Criterion does not need to be accounted for in the standard curve calculator, since objects merging due to that Criterion happen well past the distance that they disappear "over the horizon" due to Earth curvature.

Two objects of the same size, sitting next to each other, and you move one further away from the other, the further object will appear smaller than the nearer one because of reduced angular size. That’s just the way perspective works.
Now what you’re attempting to do is you’re trying to say that objects disappear because they become too small for us to see based on the Raleigh Criteria. I’ve tried to press you on this and not only don’t you know what the Raleigh Criteria is, when I ask you specifically to cite the critical angle of the human eye that you feel accounts for objects disappearing, you don’t even know what it is.

All we got to do is put a lid on the box and connect a vacuum pump to it. And if we’ve got a good enough vacuum pump we can collapse the column of mercury all the way down into the mercury pool at the bottom. Now that will work. And that will happen every time….

Science deniers like to try to raise doubt about 'what' horizon we are using with a sextant. Little do they know not only does refraction make very little difference in the position (generally on the order of 3 miles or less), but we don't even need to use a horizon... We can get a reading to a celestial object off the vertical, not to mention the dip correction brings the horizon to the horizontal plane of the observer.

I chased Nathan into his own show today to teach him a lesson in celestial navigation. My challenge was simple- you and your buddies have been running your mouths about sextants and celestial navigation for months- but I suspected they were 'all hat and no cattle' as they say in Texas.
So my challenge was simple. Here is a two star fix from a real ocean voyage. I gave him all the information he needed to find the position of the ship and told him he could call on any or all of his dwindling panel to help him give me a position from the sextant reading. The results were hilarious and humiliating for Nathan and later Quantum Eraser.
We'll go over the show live and I'll work the problem, getting a proper solution within 10 miles of the actual location of the vessel (not bad for only two stars). In the process I expose the ignorance of Nathan, Quantum Eraser and AdamMeakins (who at least tried but was a mere 2750 miles off and used a globe)

Bob says, "this is an excellent image from Scott Manley who did a video a while ago demonstrating how to find the parallax and the distance to the Moon from observers on Earth.
Now here's he way it's done. We've got three objects here. It's jupiter, it's saturn and a bright star. And by simply taking a photograph of those we can measure the angular separation between these two stars, between these two stars, and between these two stars. Simply by counting pixels and looking up on the astronomical tables or Stellarium, what the angular separation of those two stars are, those two objects are. And then we can find out how many arc seconds per pixel for example. And then what we can do is we can actually look at this image right here, let me get out of your way, because this is the key image of this photograph and that's right here (time mark: 24:19).
Notice that that's a moon, and there's a scond moon superimposed on it. So what this image came from was that Scott Manley I guess was up in the San Fransciso area, and he had one of his subscribers take a picture of the moon at exactly the same timehe did and that second scribers was down in Rio De Janeiro.
And then what they did was they took the photographs and they rotated them and scalled them so that these three stars lined up perfectly. And what he did then was he demosntrated the parallax of the moon. So they went from the center of this moon to the center of that moon, counted the number of pixels in that image between those two center points, and then by using that distance, and the known and measured distance between the two observers, Rio De Janeiro and San Fransciso, they were able to use what's called the parallax equation, and they were able to find the distance to the Moon.
And they did a pretty good job with it. I think they 340,000 kilometers roughly, and I think that the actual distance to the Moon is something ... 348,400 kilometers (time mark: 26:01)..."

If you are going to make an objection to evidence due to 'an error' like a 'curved baseline', you have to a/ show it will change the answer and b/ the change is enough to be significant. Since the science deniers have not done this, let's go through the math and find out...

Eötvös effect
The Eötvös effect is the change in perceived gravitational force caused by the change in centrifugal acceleration resulting from eastbound or westbound velocity. When moving eastbound, the object's angular velocity is increased (in addition to Earth's rotation), and thus the centrifugal force also increases, causing a perceived reduction in gravitational force.
In the early 1900s (decade), a German team from the Institute of Geodesy in Potsdam carried out gravity measurements on moving ships in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans. While studying their results, the Hungarian nobleman and physicist Baron Roland von Eötvös (Loránd Eötvös) noticed that the readings were lower when the boat moved eastwards, higher when it moved westward. He identified this as primarily a consequence of Earth's rotation. In 1908, new measurements were made in the Black Sea on two ships, one moving eastward and one westward. The results substantiated Eötvös' claim. Since then, geodesists use the following formula to correct for velocity relative to Earth during a measurement run.
